St. Mary's Day Nursery stands in the grounds of the original St. Mary's School, founded in 1959 as a private school for girls, with boys arriving in 1990. The founders had very clear ideas on the type of education the school will provide, "The emphasis will be on hard work, conscientious effort, good manners and service to others".
After the school relocated the site was acquired by Jonathon and Donna Woodhead in 2009 (Donna was a former pupil at the school) with the intention of continuing the excellent levels of education and converting it into a Day Nursery, St. Mary's Day Nursery.

St. Mary's Day Nursery provides the highest standards of care for children between the ages of 0 and 5 years. There are beautifully designed baby rooms, toddler rooms and pre-school rooms. Every part of the nursery has been designed as part of detailed research into the requirements of young children and their learning needs around the principles of the latest Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
Director of Education Donna Woodhead has fond memories of the site when she attended the St Mary's Girl's School as a child 1980 - 1990. Donna went on to become a teacher and Early Years Professional in 1998 before setting up Small World Day Nursery in Hatfield in 2004. Donna's reasons for entering the nursery sector were after the birth of her first child as she found it hard to find good childcare.
